Figure Painting

This intermediate to advanced level studio course explores both perceptual and conceptual approaches to painting the figure. Ongoing individual and group critiques investigate a variety of topics, including the development of space and form; proportion, color and composition; and the expressive rendering of the figure.

This intermediate to advanced level studio painting course focuses on the development of personal content and self-expression. In the afternoon class we will use water as our subject matter and focus on movement, stillness and its floating aspects.

This intermediate to advanced level studio painting course focuses on the development of personal content and self expression. Through slide lectures and individual / group critiques, concepts such as risk taking, painting vs. picture making, predictability, tension, and discovery are explored.

Oakdale Studio is equipped with easels, palette stands, shelves for storing supplies, and a large painting rack. Please bring containers for water or paint thinner, and a box for holding your materials if you plan to keep them at the studio.
