Back to Basics This studio painting course offers a review of the basic techniques presented in Painting Fundamentals for both beginning and advanced painters. Brief demonstrations provide a review of the three stages of a painting: foundation, underpainting, and overpainting; essential techniques such as the use of washes, dry brush, and layering; as well as an overview of the 25 points of painting. Along with a review of these basic concepts and techniques, the course offers plenty of open paintiing time to explore new ideas and develop your creativity.
Afternoon Studio Painting This is an intermediate to advanced level studio painting course, focusing on the development of personal content and self-expression. The afternoon session will also include a focus on the "development of surfaces" as a means to explore and enhance creativity. Using canvas or other grounds, and experimenting with a range of traditional and alternative materials and techniques, you have the opportunity to work with surface and content in innovative new ways. Evening Studio Painting This is an intermediate to advanced level studio painting course, focusing on the development of personal content and self-expression. Through slide lectures, and individual and group critiques, concepts such as risk taking, painting vs. picture making, predictability, tension, and discovery are explored. All Day Studio Painting Immerse yourself in a full day at the studio -- paint all afternoon and evening, with the option to join lectures, demonstrations or critiques as you like. Paint all afternoon and evening as an intermediate or advanced level studio painter. For an enrollment form Oakdale Studio is equipped with easels, palette stands, shelves for storing supplies, and a large painting rack. Please bring containers for water or paint thinner, and a box for holding your materials if you plan to keep them at the studio.
